its independence now, what next later?

I am not a political activist, neither am I a political ignoramus. Yes I never read political science in school but certainly, I do understand the political situation in our beloved father land. I might not know how well to use the various political jargon but I surely have eyes and see the various political drama unfolding in our land.

Finally it's Independence Day. Our children will be dressed in their finest and will go out to match and to salute the ever glowing national flag. Public office holders will be at home to rest and prepare for the coming week. Business men and women might make some more profits while others might be still at home. Churches and mosques will pray and we will all shout happy Independence! Then, we will ponder on the President's Speech!

While others will laud his speech, some others will condemn and wish for something else.  Should I blame those who condemned his speech or should I praise those who lauded his speech?  That is of no value here. He (the president) will say just what he has to or was told to say.

Nigeria is 56 today. Hitherto we have come of age but the big question here is this;  is there much to celebrate? Well, opinions differ on this. But one thing that is true to all parties is that this is our county and we can't wish for any better. When the government led by the president or the new Visioners led by different prominent men are weighed, it will all amount to the fact that we are all trapped in this geographical entity.

The key words on the lips of many people today is recession, no job, insecurity, corruption and it's likes. Many youths are swimming under this words and are not thinking of what to do to get their belle away from recession. The jobs might not be there now, but the skills are certainly there. How many graduates have compelling skills and how many are practically unemployed? I believe in one thing and that is we all need God's favour to survive. But, we also do need skills to sharpen the blades which will tear open the cyst of recession and relief the economy from total crash.

Pick up a skill today and save your immediate environment from recession. The encouragement might not be there, but there are always ways to achieve all that we will ever wish for or desire.

A wise man once said "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade out of them" and so I ask you today, what is the lemon that life have given to you?
